New York System

The New York system is the heart of Liberty and the starting point for all new freelancers. It is the most heavily policed system in the Sirius Sector, with the Liberty Police Inc. patrolling trade lanes and the Liberty Navy maintaining a constant military presence. Planet Manhattan — the capital of Liberty — dominates the system, serving as the financial and political center of the entire sector.

Despite the security, criminal activity thrives in the margins. The Liberty Rogues operate out of the Buffalo Badlands, a dense debris field in the system's outer region. The Xenos harass trade lanes near the Detroit Debris Field. Lane Hackers occasionally interdict traffic along the main routes. For a starting system, New York contains a surprising amount of danger for those who venture off the beaten path.

The system connects to Colorado via jump gate and has trade lane access to all major stations. Hidden jump holes lead to Texas and California for pilots willing to explore. Several wreck sites in the badlands and debris fields contain salvageable equipment and loot worth hunting for in the early game.
